Premium Rates

    * Flat rate for all players
    * Rate is 6.2% per unit of cover with a 60 day waiting period
    * Rate is 2.5% per unit of cover with a 180 day waiting period
    * Each unit is R 5 000 per month
    * Minimum Premium of R 325 per month
    * Same rate irrespective of age
    * Maximum age – 36 years old

Pre Season Risk Assessment

Cover will only be provided up submission of proposal form and acceptance of individual players.

Medical Examination:

    * Past Injuries
    * Excluded Medical Conditions

Pre Existing Conditions

    * Full injury list must be provided
    * Old Injury must have played 400 min of game time before cover for the particular injury is provided
    * Full cover for all other injuries
    * New Injury – If re injured within 4 games the injury will be treated as an ongoing injury.

What to do when injured?

    * Team doctor to advise SARPA of full team injury report every 7 days
    * Insurers to be advised of claims within 14 days
    * If injury unlikely to extend beyond 60 days, medical report to be completed.
    * If injury likely to exceed 60 days, detailed medical reports to be submitted together with proposed rehabilitation report.
    * Monthly report from team doctor required to ensure ongoing payment.
    * Insurers reserve the right to request a second opinion
    * No payment will be made unless the player follows a strict rehabilitation programme.
    * Proof of rehabilitation programme to be produced before the 20th of month in which benefit is payable.

Major Policy Exclusions

    * Hazardous activities
    * Intentional self injury
    * Alcohol, drugs and performance enhancing drugs
    * Riot and civil commotion
    * Osteoarthritis and arthritis
    * Sexually transmitted diseases / HIV / AIDS
